Great looking workshop. How do you ever get anything done with that view outside?

I love your shop and canoe! Your surroundings seem very conducive to working with wood.

I think the skylight is my favorite feature, it helps to bring in so much more of the beauty of the surroundings.

Hi SM,

You have a nice shop and I love the view. You have plenty of headroom, which I like. The fan was a nice idea as well.

Nice post. Thanks for the shop tour. I really enjoyed it.

I’m envious of both the shop and the view!

I do often pinch myself when I come into the shop, just to remind myself that I really am that lucky! My first shop was a 10×16’ basement with a very low ceiling. (Had to take the wood outside to turn it around.)

I designed the layout and had it built roof tight; then finished the siding (did the wiring myself) and am still working on the inside. Contractors kept telling me: you have too many windows, too many outlets, to many trees close by (hoping I would hire them to cut them down) and too many lights. “Ya, I know”, she said sweetly, “but build it anyway.”

I’m not so distracted by the trees (I work in the woods a lot) but in the summer I often have to go fall in the lake that is just down the hill from the house.

Jarood, I hope my shop will soon be blessed with a coffee table project as handsome as yours.

Thanks for visiting.

Your are invited (all of you in LJ land) to visit me any time in Canada. From Colorado, fallow the Great Divide until you hit Banff, Alberta (or thereabouts) and take a right, go 3,000K until you hit Halifax, Nova Scotia on the Atlantic ocean; (if you hit Newfoundland you’ve gone way to far.)

Kudos to you, Handsomdvm, on the unique design of your bench and your ability to work with Purple Heart. I did one box in purple heart once, after which, every blade it had touched was like a grinding wheel. You have inspired me to try it again.
