I just relocated from Denver so I’m in the process of getting my shop re-established. I miss having things neatly arranged the way I like them but I’m excited to get this new shop outfitted the way I want it.
My shop is in a 22’ by 30’ barn with old timbers that was lifted and placed on a nice new slab foundation…floor is nice in the summer but like an ice cube in winter.
Tools I’ve got so far:
Delta 3HP left-tilt cabinet saw (I love this thing)

8” Grizzly G0593 jointer with spiral cutter head

old Tage Frid inspired workbench
I just finished insulating the barn and adding a 5000 watt Ouellet blower to fight off the northern chill. Flip it on and in 30 minutes the barn is ready. This summer I’m planning to lay down some 2×4 and insulating on the floor and cover with plywood so I reduce the concrete slab heat sucker.

I am jealous. I have an old house (275 years) but the barn is long since gone. That is a great size. Might want to check out that DRIcore stuff. I bet even a little gap with some plywood would help the temp on the slab.

My shop floor was concrete. I know what you mean about cold. No matter what I wore on my feet, the cold just creeped up to my knees. I laid 2×4’s on the flat and put in solid foam insulation under 4×8x3/4 plywood. Don’t forget to cut some slots (+/- 1/4w x 1/4dx 4’ apart) on the bottom side to allow a little air flow in case of a spill. You can also run your power to floor recepticles if you know where your power tools will reside. My walls are covered with 1/2” OSB and the ceiling is 1/4 OSB. Very reasonable and works great. Hi Skozub,
Your shop description sounds nice. When you get a chance it would be nice to have a visual tour to go along with the description.
