I have been a full time woodworker for six years now. Before that I worked with wood as a hobby, since taking classes in high school. I was luky enough to have a great shop teacher, whom saw my talent and helped shape it. Currently my wife and I do all the work at our homebased shop in gorgeous Alto NM. I have been inspired by Sam Maloof and have taken formal classes from both Sam Maloof and David Marks, but I am mostly self taught. Most of my creations are of a contemporary style, but I can make all styles of furniture. I love hand sculpting and hand shaping pieces to make them more of an art focal point in my clients home or office. I also create carved wood vessels and bowls. I find this to bring out the artist in me and am able to put all my creativity into creating these sculptures. After studying a piece of wood to see what type of form it will become, I use a chainsaw and several grinders to create it. I like the free flowing forms that give the piece a natural look and appeal. My inspiration comes from the satisfaction of creating incredible works of art from beautiful woods.

Hi Scott, I was just looking at your projects and determined I’m not worthy. But seriously you are the type of woodworker I look to for inspiration and drive. Thanks for sharing.
