I haven’t taken the table challenge (yet). That’s an end table for the new living room furniture my wife wanted. We remodeled our house and there was all this wood lying around (like our old knotty pine flooring, etc) that I could not just let go to the dump. So….We now have 2 end tables and a coffee table made from reclaimed scrap. Now that I have figured out how to post projects, I’ll post it with the final results.

OK…I think I’ve got this computer thingy figured out. I’ve been spending time and money upgrading my shop. I splurged on a SawStop cabinet saw. I was looking at the PM2000 but my wife insisted I spend a little more for the safety features of the SawStop despite my explanation that there are many other ways to lose a finger in a place with sharp blades whirring about. Of course, I didn’t protest long or hard. It really is a nice machine. I integrated my router station into the extension table after reinforcing it a bit. I uploaded some pictures. Now to see if I can bet a blog going and post some of my projects…..

No…I’d rather put my dogs on the BBQ. The brake cartridge is about $70 as well as the cost of a new blade. I settled for letting the guys at WoodCraft sacrifice a blade while nicking their wieners.

You have a really nice shop and I love the Sawstop. I had one of these on my Christmas list but I guess Santa’s sleigh didn’t have a lift gate. Good selection of tools as well. I would enjoy working in there.

I love that Sawstop, I went back toschool to take a Cabinetmaking/Fine Woodwork degree program. We have half a dozen tablesaws in our cabinet shop. powermatic, delta, and the Sawstop. If I have my way I use the Sawstop it’s my first choice, that and it’s the closest to my bench 15’ away. You made a good choice, you wont regret it.
One thing to remember is adjusting the safety brake, it should be a nickles thickness away from the blade (check your paperwork). Any how as you send your blades out to be sharpened they get smaller in diameter each time, so you need to keep making that adjustment. If you happen to put a brand new blade on that is a full 10”s remember to make the adjustment or that brake will release into your brand new blade if there is no clearence.

Thanks for the comments. I know there is some controversy over the sawstop and its cost, but it has been the best addition so far. I just added a Jet JWL-1224 mini lathe and am beginning to turn some little projects. I’ll post what doesn’t become firewood….

Hey! My daughter is named Hayden after Hayden Lake! We like to go to Hayden and rent a friend’s cabin there. Especially around 4th of July. My wife grew up in Spokane, she has lots of memories there.
