Professionally, I work in software development. Woodworking is my escape. I do all my work out of a 1 car garage so I've had to get very creative in the way I set things up and store my tools. Hopefully in about the next year or two I'll be building a new, detached shop that will hopefully be triple the size I have now. *Note - I finally measured my shop, 234.75 square feet including lumber storage. I've surprised myself with the size of some of the projects I've been able to complete even in that limited space.

I've been doing woodworking seriously for about the last year or two so I am fairly new still.

I hate using pre-surfaced wood like you get at Home Depot. I love using the planer. I'll hopefully be adding a jointer in the next few weeks.

I got my start with picture frames but now I mostly dabble in furniture
In the next few months I will also be trying some dressers.

Can't beat the smell of sawdust in the morning...afternoon...whenever

Welcome to Lumberjocks. The projects are an inspiration, the information is priceless and the people are supportive. The only problem is, the site can get addictive.

God Bless

Welcome to LJ – If you have got limited space, and I think you have a planer/thicknesser, I would fore-go the joiner and spend your money on some reasonable hand planes (# 7 (Low Angle), 4, Block (LA) with different blades) – using them will teach you more about wood, than a machine ever can, they will undertake jobs your joiner (machine) cannot do. and they should last you a life time and they take up no space – and will definitely compliment that new work bench you are thinking about building.

Whatever you decide – good luck and more importantly enjoy your time woodworking – Tony
