Back home we mostly had gravil rodes, so my feet are startin’ to tender up. Ma likes to say we went frum cabbage hard feet to wiltin poke salad feet. Well, I don’t mind telling ya’ll that I’m all fer this tall-cotten life. I suspekt overalls will last a mite longer now that we’re in a citified state.

I sined up to be a mimber out of cureositee mostly. I quicklee lurned you folks on this here website is purty alrite. Yor reel good ‘bout complimenten each other on yor wurk and you offer good advise to eech other.

I have to say I’m downrite proud to be counted amongst ya’ll feller woodworkers and luk fowerd to lookin at yalls nice stuff. I hope ya’ll enjoy my ritens, as I am the only 1 in my family to gragiate grade skool. Momma shore is proud and wants me to keep practicing riten, soes I’ll git bettur.

Next time, I’ll tell ya’ll sum inturestin facts about the siroundins here in Tupelo, Missississippi. Ifen yer inturested that is. Right now, I gots to git under the porch and untangel the dogs frum ther chanes agin.

I looked at your projects and I noticed that you made a gun cabinet. Was that for you or did you make it for someone else. (I hope) I love the size and the selection of wood. Hope to see more project from you side of the river soon.

Welcome Randy, I think you’ll love it here, like you said it is such a nice community and you can talk with people from all over the world and learn about different people and different cultures. and most of all different styles and ideas of woodworking. I’m sure we would love to hear about your part of the world!

Dominic, the plans came from http://www.popularmechanics.com/home_journal/woodworking/1273026.html. The plans are crude and required relying on past experience to do the project. I made a few changes as I went along. Used oak plywood and solid oak throughout, with two coats of pecan stain and three coats of poly. The two glassed sections have halogen lighting, with keyed locks on all sections.

I’m glad you asked. I have a close “brother” who served as a leader in a Boy Scout troop with me over the past several years. You won’t find a better friend than Keith Hazel. I built it as a gift for him.
