"Real" table saw achieved!!

Well, I had pretty much given up on the possibility of finding a good used table saw at a reasonable price around here. It seemed like all the best deals were up in the Northeastern part of the country, and I saw alot of them up there. Me thinks folks up there have found a hobby to do while the cold weather is on!! Anyway, I just happened to stumble across a local sweetheart of a deal on a Grizzly cabinet saw and a shaper. A sweetheart of a deal so good that I paid less than half of the price of the shaper alone for both of them. The saw is in amazing shape with all parts but a blade guard/splitter. I had to remove some of the old cosmoline shipping wax from it so the miter gauge would slide freely. It was already squared up in every way except I had to reset the angle needle on the scale, and readjust both of the cast iron extensions. Since it is more saw than I ever figured I would be able to afford, I also had to wire some 220 in the garage to power it, not to mention moving alot of stuff out of the way to get it in there! The only real problem I have found with it is that all 3 belts are seriously cracked, causing some vibrations. But at 2.75 each from Grizzly, thats not too bad. Now, I guess my first project will be constructing a mobile base for this thing, as I will be working in the garage, and 500+ pounds of table saw do not move themselves very readily without wheels, and the missus is perhaps a little miffed that she still cannot park her car in the garage….............Yeah. I better get it mobile and pretty quickly at that! The shaper is mostly there, but is missing several small parts. I have yet to compile a list of needed items, but I am going to guess it will probably be in the neighborhood of $100 to make it complete again. This one also still has cosmoline on part of the table, and I have left it as is for now, as I was not in the market for a shaper when this one came along, and I moved it to an obscure corner out of the way until I am ready to learn to use it. One toy at a time!
