Retired cable splicer from KCPL.

Five years ago I needed a large entertainment center-real wood, no junk. I found one for 3k-the back was cardboard, the hardware just so-so. When finally found the real thing they were 4k to 6k. I told my wife that we just cant do that. so we did without.

Not long after that wife presented me with a pretty not bad Craftsman table saw. I went to a woodworking show and bought a PC router and a router table. I went to Lowes and bought a bottle of glue, woodscrews and 2 clamps. Everything sat for 4 months while I read and ask questions about woodworking. I knew nothing.

My wife says "I better see some routin' done". Three months later I had the entertainment center that I wanted. Since then I have accumulated a shop full of tools and have been turning out some very nice things.

I am most impressed with the talent I have seen from LJ and look forward to learning from all of you. I shall add photos soon.

I went to Woodcraft store in Lenexa Kansas to buy a Steel City table saw. I was told that all of the saws they had in stock were deffective and all the Steel City saws they have sold have problems and that no help was available from Steel City. This is contrary to the research I have done. I have done more research and have nothing to support Woodcrafts claim. Any comments about Steel lCity quality and service will be helpful.

roberthart – You might want to post your question as a blog or in the forums to get more attention. It will get overlooked on your home page.

I personally have not heard anything to the effect that you mention. The great thing about LJ is that with so many people available in one location, somebody will probably know something.
