I have had some personal issues going on and have been very busy taking care of them. You may like to know that all is well now and I am getting to a point to where I can finally start getting back in my shop. I have also recently had the plesure of meeting a fellow lumberjock. Greg3G it nice to meet you and I am looking forward to your return trip next month. I will unfortunantly be away from lumberjocks again for about two weeks starting september 5 I leave for a mission trip in mexico with a couple of local churches. I will be helping add on to a church there and repairing some of their elctrical work. So any all prayers will be appreciated fr a safe and successful trip. Thanks to all. I then inquired as t the type of wood and was told it was oak. I was going to have to drive to the guys house approx. 1-1 1/2 hours away so I then asked how much to make sure it was worth the drive and advised that he had a trailer load all around 10 foot long and around 12 inches wide. I hooked up the trailer jumped in the truck and off I went. I got there and sure enough he had a trailer load and said he had more if I wanted it to. Unfortunantly it was all veneer. I now have enough oak veneer to last me a life time. If any is interested in any let me know. It is all stacked as it was cut from the tree so the grain patters are easy to match. I will make the price right to any interesed. It vary depending on shipping cost amount etc.

I am just writing to update on the progress of my new shop. I have been busy setting up have come a long ways but have a long ways t go. I am at least able to make some saw dust now, I am going to attempt to add some pictures now I am not sure what I am doing but will try. This shows the lumber racks that I have built still need to add a sheet goods storage area to the left in the picture. Here is a shot of the band saw and ras that I have refered to in a previous blog. The RAS works well but needs a new table and better blade. The band saw will have to be totally refurbed. This is a picture of my router table that I purchased for a much smaller shop where it had to fold up and disappear. It works quite well for what it is will build a better one in the future, you also see both of my dust collectors. The larger one was given to me after a friend shop got hit in a tornado and he decided he didnt want it any longer, needs minor work nothing major. The wood shelfs in the picture was actually my very first project still standing so must have gotten them right. This is a shot of my second project. a work bench made of 3/4 mdf to serve as a work bench. I also built it so that I slide my bench to tools onto different runners and there beds would sit flush with the top of the bech also have a plane panel to slide into place for a solid workbench/ assembly table. This is a shot of my sharpening / scroll saw station along with my charging station with some storage built in to both. Oh yea! it also holds my shop stereo, can’t do without that. lol. this is the final picture. It is of some wood that I have diminsioned for a planner cabinet that I am building. I will post a picture of the finished project. It is also my first attempt at mortise and tennon joints. Got my electric turned on today. YEAH I now have lights and the ability to run my tools. I still am unpacking some of the tools and trying to determine how I want the shop layed out. Nothing seems to work where I put it. I may just have to settle for now and work in there for a while to get a better feel of how I want the work to progress so I lay it out properly. Oh Well at least I now have lights. until next time. Any comments or suggestions on work flow is welcome.

I have been gone for a few days due to being in the hospital with my son. I have always cherished the time I get to spend with him but the last few days have been slightly different. He will typically want to play with daddy but let mommy rock him or lay down with him when it is time to sleep. While in the hospital he wanted nothing to do with his mommy or nana, all he wanted was to be eld by his daddy. I can not explain how this made me feel. I would have changed places with him in a instant as would most parents but the fact that he wanted only me was an amazing feeling. Twist of faith I have changed places with him he is feeling much better and running and playing and I am the one laying in bed with a fever and aches. Unfortunatly he ran in to the bed room this morning and the first words out of his mouth was shop daddy lets go to shop. I had to tell him no and stay in bed just being thankful he feels better even if it meant that I cought he illness. Cant wait until I feel better so that when as again I can say LET”S GO.

Was a little disappointed when I saw them. They had been poorly stored and now need some refurb. Nothing to major a little paint on the cabinets, new table on RAS, remove some surface rust on cast iron table, lots of fun ahead. Unfortunatly the electric company still has not hooked up my power yet, not sure when that will happen, all I know is that I am on the list. I have/will post new pictures under my workshop link.

The bad news is that I will not be able to have the electric hooked up until the end of the month, this really sucks eggs but what can you do. I will start moving my equipment into the shop this weekend and will be going to Knoxville TN. to pick up a band saw and radial arm saw that has been given to me by a family member who bought but never used them. Hope to have some updated shots of the shop posted soon with progress reports on setup and dust collection as it progresses. Pleas wish me luck in the move and pray I don’t pull mine or the wifes hair out in the process. Until my next posting, keep making sawdust because I’m still dreaming of it.
