Today I was called and asked if wanted some wood, so obviously I said yeah! I then inquired as t the type of wood and was told it was oak. I was going to have to drive to the guys house approx. 1-1 1/2 hours away so I then asked how much to make sure it was worth the drive and advised that he had a trailer load all around 10 foot long and around 12 inches wide. I hooked up the trailer jumped in the truck and off I went. I got there and sure enough he had a trailer load and said he had more if I wanted it to. Unfortunantly it was all veneer. I now have enough oak veneer to last me a life time. If any is interested in any let me know. It is all stacked as it was cut from the tree so the grain patters are easy to match. I will make the price right to any interesed. It vary depending on shipping cost amount etc.

pyro…i am just a beginner…so here goes a question—-why would these huge logs…only work as veneer? and not be able to be cut into boards>??? just wondering…

Napa I dont know why they cut it into veneer the guy I got it from said it originally belonged to his wifes grandfather who owned a cabinet shop. All of the veneers that I looked at had great graining with very few knts in just a few of the stacks that can be easily worked around. I would have rather had boards but felt the veneer was a great find. I am sure I will ruin several sheets learning to use veneer.

oh…so its already cut that way…i misunderstood…lol…for some reason i was picturing that it was a type of oak or something was wrong and that these huge logs could not be cut into boards—-but it is not logs he has…its already cut…got it…

GarryK- I havent had a chance to check the thickness yet still need to get a dial caliber. I am quessing between a 1/16 and 1/32. I will check it and let yu know as soon as I can.
