So you trim a few fruit trees and you wind up with a pile of reclaimed Redwood from California army base structures. The math is wierd but it worked out. This pile will be a strip built kayak. Now my laziness has “bit me in the buttocks” I bought a mold set from CLC. Not impressed., but you pay a hundred bucks for a set of molds and unfortunately you get a hundred dollars worth of molds. Next time I will just spend the 15 hours of time and loft out a set of molds and I sure won’t cut them from particle board scraps from a Chinese furniture factory. Now the real problem, just like everyone else on this site….I need more clamps. Tomorrow i’ll buy a bag thick bungee chords. Of all of my test samples they seemed to have the highest performance to cost ratio. The bag of clothes pins definitely did not work.
more to come

Now that is going to be a beautiful kayak! About those chinese furniture factory scrap molds…you’ll at least be able to bend your planking around them. Just make sure your bungees are nice and tight. As for needing more clamps…I know of a great little hardware store…talk to the old man with grey hair…I hear he might be able to get you a good deal! Can’t wait to see the kayak!
