Restoration Project

Blog entry by Philip Edwards posted 365 days ago 360 reads 1 time favorited 8 comments Add to Favorites

HI Folks
I was lucky enough to come across this rather sad looking specimen – a Norris A5 handplane.
As you can see, she has seen better days – much better!!
So I’m going back to square one and shall re-build her. That means removing the rust (and there’s lots!) replacing the infills with new Rosewood, building a new adjuster mechanism and finding a replacement iron.
I’m keeping a photo diary here and shall keep you up to date with my progress.
Cheers
Phil

WOW!!!!! Good luck with this project – hope you find that diamond in the rough – look for the beauty within. I suspect that if it can be restored, you are the man to do it.

Phil,
Well you are certainly giving it the full treatment. It’s coming along very well and I look forward to seeing more.

Phil,

Any updates on Operation Norris? I checked the ON blog, but it stops at the oversized front bun!

Anxious to hear how it is coming along.

Cheers,

This will be a full scale restoration. Doesn’t look like you could start with much less than that.
