Squirrel Ferris-Wheel feeder

Blog entry by pappyjohn posted 169 days ago 194 reads 0 times favorited 6 comments Add to Favorites

Hello All, Here’s a couple of photo’s on the upcoming Ferris-Wheel Feeder for the Squirrels. This set of eight seats will be attached to a rotating ring with hangers for the seats to rotate around. The idea is once the squirrel gets on then they will rotate to the bottom. If they climb up the seats then they’ll continue to rotate down to the bottom of the revolving wheel. The size of the seats are approx. 6 1/2, 2 1/2, by 1/14
they are made of some small pieces of scrap pine.I used rubber-bands as clamps while the glue set. I’ve informed the Grandchildren and they want them painted PINK and Purple. Should prove to be interesting, to see if Squirrels are color-blind or not (ha, ha.) I’ll post some more as I get more done. Thanks

This is wonderful project PappyJohn, I’ve seen these in action. or should I say ‘The Squirrels in action’ and it’s fascinating to see how enginuitive they can be. I’ve seen and watched for hours how they figure out their dilemma to their fierce appetite. Your Grand daughters will be fascinated for hours. Be sure to get a video of their escapades.

Pappyjohn,

This is a nice idea. And I am sure it will give you and the grandkids a lot of amusement to watch the squirrels on this . They are so resourceful and determined. I love watching them as well.

Have fun and I am looking forward to seeing the finished piece.

Thats the way John. Keep those grandkids away from the TV. You must have a lot of squirrels up there.

Thanks LJ’s, We sure do have a lot of squirrels, chipmunks, rabbits and a groundhog thats made his residence under my one shed. We love watching them go around and gather up the black-walnuts from our tree up back. The rabbits though seem to love the Gladiolaus the wife plants. Ya’ll take care

I’d like to see this when it’s complete.
