I just purchased a Jet bandsaw and I have almost gotten it completely together and aligned. I have heard some vague mumblings about blade tension and how important it is. Am I to understand that I need to release the tension when the saw is not in use? Does just loosening it from 3/4” to 1/4 or 1/8” do the trick? I would appreciate input. Thanks

Hi Out2sea71,

Let me welcome you to LJs. I hope that you will find this to be a rewarding and interesting part of your woodworking journey.

With regards to your question it would be better to post it as a forum topic since it will get more views there but in answer to it yes you need to release the tension on the blade when you are finished using it for the day. Unless you are planning to use it every day then detensioning the blade at the end of your woodworking day will reduce stress on the blade and the saw.
