Hi my name is John (oldfolks) and I am 60 years old and getting into wood working late in life. I joined here to learn anything possible about wood working.

I live in a tiny town in East Texas (Mt Enterprise) where it is very difficult to sell any craft work but I keep trying. I turn pens and want to learn how to build display boxes, the type found at flea markets.

Welcome to Lumberjocks. The projects are an inspiration, the information is priceless and the people are supportive. The only problem is, the site can get addictive.

God Bless

Thanks for the warm welcome… I am at the very beginning in wood working but I intend to take my time and learn at my own pace. I have already made my first mistake and tried to use a old TS without a fence,
blade guard or splitter… reached over blade ( reach was short) and cut three fingers pretty bad. Thank God I didn’t lose them… all healed now but I learned I will always use the right saftey fetures and push sticks !

Right off I must admit I have a learning disability, without a pic type tutorial I have a very difficult time following instructions/directions. I am more than happy to recieve any help I am offered here and I want to pass that help on to any new wood worker I meet.

Thanks again for the warm welcome.
