Shop Notes #4: Loft

I think that at one time (or sooner rather than later), all shops, even the larger ones will run into a shortage
of usable space. Most can’t build out, so building ‘up’ is a great solution.

I made something like that above the are where my big rolling shop door goes when open.
The space above it dead space anyway.

This is a nice use of “dead” space. Too often usable space is overlooked. This would include space over the garage door, between floor joists and toe kicks in cabinets. These areas can provide some much needed space. I am glad to see that you are being creative in your use of space.

Great use of space, Satoru. I think challenges like that make one appreciate their hobby so much more.

Not sure about the size difference of the photos… I think with Photobucket you can select the size of the image when you upload it. You can change that afterwards, too. Maybe they were loaded at different sizes?

Great way to overcome. While I have a bit more room I’ve recently annexed the area above my head as well. Beautiful thing is that I don’t have to step over and around things anymore and I get more done. Great job.
