The Truth About The LumberWhisperer Magazine

Blog entry by Martin Sojka posted 158 days ago 528 reads 0 times favorited 23 comments Add to Favorites

Yes, yes.. I’m one evil man, Zuki ;) I started it all with these few lines in the email to Marc:

What about preparing and posting some cool april fool’s joke together? Like… TWW and LJ starting new line of tools, Marc Spagnuolo invests into LJ.com, TWW and LJ starting new magazine in May… you get the
idea ;)

But Marc is no different.. his immediate response: haha! I love it!

And we ended up with the brand new magazine...

As Matt said in the comments, “good things come from good jokes…maybe…someday…”. Marc?

Okay, back to work ;)

I just knew there was a conspiracy here.

Martin you have a wonderful imagination and a matching sense of humor as well. I am just glad that April 1 only comes around once a year. Now you have another year in which to plan for something to top this.

I actually believed it, until I read some of the other comments from some of our smarter LJs.

I was already going to weed out one of my other subscriptions so I could afford your magazine.LOL

Hi Martin;

I knew you were evil, I just knew it. Look at your photo, it screams evil! LOL

I didn’t respond to yesterday’s posting, as I too am not smart enough to figure things like this out. But I figured if I wait, “the truth shall be known”.

Seemed possible, yet posting on April 1st?

Glad I waited to comment. (now kindly return my subscription check) LOL

Wise guy huh?

I’m only semi slow. I believed it the first few times and by the time I got to the bottom of it, I caught on.

What, it’s not true. No wonder none of the bookstores did not know what I was talking about.

I have made it a rule that I NEVER believe ANY announcement on April 1st. Yet still, I fell for Google’s April Fools trick. Back-dating emails. ugh.

Had anyone scanned the bar code on the cover they would have caught “April Fool”

Isn’t Mr. Carter a pretty good woodworker? I remeber reading an article somewhere where he actually enjoys doing woodworking? I hope that article wasn’t an early April issue.

Hehe…yes he is…the real article in Woodworkers Journal was about that partially.

I did this a few months back on another forum for standup paddleboards when the admin mentioned he was seeing paddles everywhere (standup is growing like crazy) and included a few photoshopped photos of his own.
