Two New Forums Launched - Safety and Design

Blog entry by Martin Sojka posted 449 days ago 310 reads 0 times favorited 8 comments Add to Favorites

Let me invite you to visit our two new kids in the LumberJocks woodworking forums family:

Safety in the Woodworking Shop
Before you pick up those woodworking tools, take the time to ensure your safety in the shop! Eyes, ears, fingers, and lungs are all at risk when working with wood. Share your tips and stories of “lessons learned” to help others protect their health.

Designing Woodworking Projects
Looking for information on designing your projects? Having difficulties reading project plans? Looking for help with computer programs such as Google’s Sketchup? Use this forum to discuss the ins and outs of project design, whether it is with paper and pencil, computer programs, or some other creative technique.

In addition to adding these two forums I’ve released few updates in the forums section:

  • forums home page now shows topics aggregated from all forums
  • new navigation menu added to each forum page with links to “Start new topic”, “View unanswered topics” and “forum jumper” dropdown

The most interesting of these is new Unanswered topics page that is listing topics with zero replies in the respective forum. The goal is to decrease the number of unanswered topics dramatically so use it often please ;)

Now it’s time to discuss some woodworking topics…

the “unanswered topics” is brilliant – I’ve already brought a couple unanswered questions to the front of the PULSE…

bravo, Martin, bravo

Great additions Martin. The unanswered tolpics is brilliant. I’m sure it’s frustrating to post something and get no response. Especially if it’s in the form of a question.

Great Martin! Now in your spare time if you could move all the other Safety related and design topics over. I also really like the unanswered topics idea! Great show.

Very cool Martin. I especially like the unanswered topics menu. Some great questions in there that have been missed. Now we can find them again. Well done.

Thanks for the feedback!

I’ve just redesigned the forum jumper and added list of the forums to the top of the main forums page. Hope you like it.
