16" scroll saw update

Just wanted to say thanks to all who replied about the scroll saw I was looking to buy. I got the saw for $85. I should have it up and running this weekend. I have been working on getting the shop finished. I had to pour some more concrete three weeks ago to finish off the floor and last weekend I built and put up the wall frames, and this past weekend I started putting up the osb for the walls. I should be finished this weekend and get the shop set up like I want it. It has been hard to work on the shop with the hours I am working (10:30 am to 8 – 9 pm). That only gives me about 2 hours in the mornings to work on it and none at nite, now that school has started back up the kids are in bed at 8:30 pm and I can’t go down stairs and make a lot of noise. I will update the shop pics this weekend.

Delta 16" vari-speed scroll saw

I have a friend that has a delta 16” vari-speed scroll saw model 40-540. He bought it new several years ago and never took it out of the box. He told me he would sell it to me and told me to give him a price. I have searched the net and can not find any info on this saw. He can’t remember how much he paid for it. He bought it at lowes, but they don’t carry it anymore. I was wondering if someone has or had one and if it a good saw and maybe what I should give for it.

I started cutting down the rough cut lumber that I have. I joined and planned some of it too. For now I am using a 4” aluminum dryer hose to connect the dust collector to the cyclone lid, it works great I might just keep it like that. The hose was only $10 bucks. Here are some pics.

I bought the ridgid table saw, planner, and jointer @ Home Depot this afternoon. I will put them together tomorrow. I got a delta dust collector from lowes, last week and ordered a cyclone lid from Woodcraft. I am so ready to get started working on some projects I can’t sleep, thats why I am bloging tonight. I would like to set up hoses for my dust collectorl. I am looking at a kit from sears for $130 and was wondering if anyone has any suggestions about it or if it would be better to buy some 4” pipe and the accessories to build my own. Any suggestions would be helpful.

I have added two pics of all the dirt I have moved out of the workshop over the past few months. The two updated pics I am standing by the water heater that you can see in the other pics. The small area that is at the end of the plywood is about 8×8 and the larger area is 17×15. Where you see the stack of lumber in the distance there is another 15 feet that I can expand on later if needed.
