Those are cool, Karson! They look well made. I bought the chisel plane version as well. I think I paid more than 5 bucks though.

Small planes like that are considered to be “cute” or conversation pieces, but sometimes they come in very handy.

The click on picture idea was good. I didn’t realize how small it was in the first picture.

Here’s my entry into the small planes department.

That’s a roughing blade next to it, and yes I have used it to plane the inside of a violin.

It actually works very well. It’s hard on the fingers after a while though.

Well they are little planes – all of the above – any of the would probably work well for trimming fingernails and small pieces of wood. Karson, where did you find the 3 small planes for $5?

Gary, Is that an Ibex plane? Those luthiers have some pretty cool tools. I’ve always hankered after those and a Sloan purfling cutter. So you’ve made a harpsichord and a violin? Outstanding!

I got the planes at Harbor Freight. They had a sale at the store, about 1 mo ago.

Douglas – yes it is. It’s a 10mm one. They have one smaller at 8mm.

This one has a rounded sole for dishing out the insides of the top and bottom of the violin.
I have to finish that violin one of these days!
