I have a small workshop (15’ x 12’) in portion of our basement. I have tried to keep it in that space, but seems to keeps expanding. I started with mostly bargain/cheap tools, and most of them do a good job, but the more you learn (or more addicted) your wish gets bigger and more expensive. Ulltimately, I would like to get a nicer table saw and bigger bandsaw. I enjoy making/upgrading stuff for the shop area more than anything else.
I really have enjoyed Lumberjocks site, the people, and you can always find something that interests you.
I found the Lumberjocks site by accident and was first amazed by the quality of this website, how well it is put together, and it has great functionality. Well Done!

Hi Mbbrogan,
Thanks for posting your pictures. You have a nice shop there and a wonderful collection of tools to play with. I especially like your set of hand tools. And you keep them well organized and ready to use. That is a top notch sled on your saw as well. You have a nice space in which to work and I would enjoy working in there.
Thanks for the tour. I really appreciated it.

Already liking the shop pictures and projects you’ve posted. I’m curious about your TS blade guard. It appears aluminum in the shot of the cross cut sled. Is this an aftermarket addition or did you produce it? I’m toying with making a knock off Excalibur style guard myself. Thanks.

To USCJeff: The blade guard is homemade and is nice and easy to drop down or lift up (when using sled). It is made from plexiglass, angle aluminum, and riveted together. I took things I liked from plans on the internet (there are a bunch), wouldn’t be too hard, and would work in my space. I ended up mounting it from the basement ceiling right above my saw, so it is never affected by sawing large pieces.
This is a link to a good plan for most of it… http://woodcentral.com.ldh0138.uslec.net/bparticles/blade_guard.pdf

Nice shop. Is that rolling utility cart from a recent ShopNotes? I ask because the joinery looks very similar.

To Paul D:
Yes the rolling cart is from a recent ShopNotes (January 2008 – Issue 97). That was a nice and very useful project and I would like to add more pieces using that style.
