« Part 1: Deck Project #1--It has begun... Part 2 of Napaman's Deck Project series Part 3: Question for LJ's: The frame is in...and the deckboards are sitting on... »

Well…day 2 proved to be much slower then we hoped and we only got the 2nd and 3rd rows finished…but then this morning we got off to an earlier start and completed rows 4 and 5…and it is all level…

I asked my step-son Isaac (who has been awesome working with me the last two days) to appease me when we finished with the piers…the appeasement was taking some of the deck boards to set up on top and see how they look…and check level with the actual boards…

I really wanted to sit a chair on top with my feet up …to snap another photo…but I didnt…you will have to wait for that later…when we get closer…

After lunch we hope to “trench” for the fronting board that will connect all the joists…the pressure treated lumber is really heavy…so without a 3rd person we arent sure if we will be able to screw the front board on today since my wife is gone…but we will have everything else ready to go…

The good news is most of the tough digging is done…

The first photo shows the completion of the fifth row…but photo is cut off

The second photo shows the deck 5 deck boards…aka the appeasement…but photo is cut off

and of course my great helper, Isaac…

Looking good. It also looks like some nice bowl blanks stacked up like firewood. I’ll be looking for the next update. Thanks for sharing.

It is worth the extra effore to get those piers level, it will save you a lot of triuble later – looking forward to the next episode.
