Location: In the country near Portland, Oregon
Website:

Like others of my generation, I learned very basic woodworking because wood shop was a mandatory course in high school. I built a few projects over the years, but it's really only now as I approach retirement that I've been investing more regular energy and time into woodworking. And the more I put into it, the more enjoyment I get back, so I think it's a 'keeper' for the years ahead.

My shop: a 12'x20' heated room that I built myself, within our barn.
My tools: 10" Delta hybrid tablesaw, 6" Powermatic jointer, 12" Ridgid planer, and on a truck headed here is a Minimax E16 bandsaw that is my first major tool "upgrade".

Projects: so far, mostly, the shop itself! But also some small furniture items and some novelty bird feeders for practice. But big plans for when I'm fully retired and get the time...

Current challenge: turning logs to lumber. Our farm has 30 walnut trees, all 80 years old, in decline, and coming down on their own periodically. I'm working on techniques and tools to try to salvage this wood and use it for projects.

Well, I’ve signed on to a couple of woodworking forums before, but never was so warmly welcomed – in fact, never welcomed at all. Looks like this forum has more members and more current activities too. So when I get some time I’ll add some profile details and pix of my shop and its various ‘inventions’ (that others have probably thought of long before). Right now I’m busy clearing a spot for a new Minimax bandsaw I ordered. Thanks guys,
Mark
