I'm 43, an airtraffic controller, and wanna be farmer/professional piddler. My wife and I have three wonderful little girls, ages 5, 3, and 1. (Four girls and one bathroom means I need a lot of outdoor activities.) I bought a farm in Iowa in 2001 which has about 100 acres of native trees. I've always wanted to make lumber from my own trees, so that's what I'm attempting to do. Maybe some day when I retire from the regular job, I'll be able to spend these Winter months doing some woodworking projects. But for now, I'd like to learn how to produce quality lumber for others and that's why I signed up to this site.
