You can make your SketchUp model dance
I just got this a few days ago and I love it already. That being said I should probably start with a description before I get questions about how many horsepower this router has or why the sander has a blue light on it. This is a navigation device that is used for 3D graphics programs. I have seen people at work use similar devices but they actually do CAD for a living. I only do SketchUp for fun but this device is amazing. When you move the knob it is exactly like you are moving the objec...
Nice compressor for small jobs.
I got this compressor to carry around the shop or the house for small nailing jobs. It does really well at that, but not as good as some of the new things that have come out since. It has a 2-gallon capacity which allows you to drive a good number of brads before refilling. There is an adjustable pressure regulator and a quick connect valve. A nice feature is the little storage box on-board for small small accessories and the handle on the top. I tried carrying a lot of the small compre...
Good starter table.
I got this router table as part of a combo with this router. My previous router table was all molded plastic and had a significant bow in the table making it useless. This table is nice for a starter table but it doesn’t have a lot of the high end features. The fence is very adjustable with the ability to move the out feed side independently and also slide the sides to cover the bit hole. There is a 2 1/2” dust extraction port on the back which I haven’t used because the ...
Nice router with excellent depth adjustment.
This is a really nice router. It has an all metal case which is a rarity among tools now and it just feels sturdy without being heavy. There are two removable shields for dust and chips and you can also put one in that has a 1” dust port. I just run this with the ShopVac hooked up to that dust port and almost none escapes because it’s completely sealed. It comes with both 1/4” and 1/2” collets so it’s nice for a variety of router bits. The base has 3 LED li...
Good stand with innovative features.
This is a very versatile stand for the price. My previous stand was basically a metal tee that tipped easily and had some cheap plastic for rollers. This stand is heavy enough (and has a wide-enough stance) to not tip over but is still easy to store and move. For storage it folds flat and can hang on the wall. The height is adjustable from 27” to 44” and there is a positive stop at the top so you don’t have to worry about lifting it right out of the tube. The locking m...
Don't buy forstner bits individually.
Got this twelve piece set about a year ago and they are great bits. To be fair I have never used other forstner bits but I have not complaints about these. The hex-shaped shank is very nice for a no-slip fit in the chuck. I can imagine there is a lot of torque on a 2” forstner bit so that hex-shape will help tremendously. They cut a very clean hole with a flat bottom except for the small point in the center. I would estimate is about a 1/16” of an inch. I have even used t...
Lasers aren't as good as Austin Powers thought.
I got this laser drill attachment with my drill press that I reviewed here. I’m really happy with the drill press but this laser sight is quite useless. Contrary to its name, it does not actually drill holes with a laser. Now that would be cool. This mounts on the column of the drill press and projects two laser lines which are supposed to cross at the exact point where the bit will touch the material to be drilled. It is, in fact, possible to set up the laser to do this. The adju...
Great drill press if you get it on sale.
I got this drill press in December and I have been really happy with it. Here are some basic stats on it: HP: 3/4 Continuous, 1 1/2 Maximum Volts: 120/240 (Ships wired for 120) Amps: 10/5 RPM: 1725 (No Load) Number of speeds: 16 (215 – 2720) Quill Travel: 4 7/8” Spindle Taper: #2 Morse Taper Chuck Type: Jacobs 5/8” Keyless Height: 68 1/2” Depth: 28 1/2” Weight: 206 lbs The work surface easily adjusts in 4 axes. (Up and down, s...
Best value even though not specifically for woodworkers
I got these calipers about a year ago for some other projects but I have found myself using them many times for wood working. It’s great for checking setups on your tools and seeing exactly where a joint is not fitting. As far as calipers go they are pretty standard but where they stand out is the price. These are on sale now at Harbor Freight for $16 and I think that is about what I paid for them a year ago. I know what you are thinking because I thought the same thing, “How c...
Nice rasp but I wouldn't call it a chisel
I got this mainly as a rasp and it performs really well as that. It removes material quickly and has the flat and rounded sides depending on what you need at the time. It also has a file on the side which I haven’t really used yet but I’m sure it would come in handy at some point. The problem is they say this device is also a chisel and it even comes with the protective end cap. I could understand if they called this a screwdriver but not a chisel. Out of the box it was not ...
