I have a small oversized single garage sized workshop that I built in my backyard. The bottom 3 feet of the outside walls are faced with field stone that I hand picked, toted home and cemented into place.
The rest of the walls will eventually be covered with wood murals. I have 1 side completely done and the second almost done. The other 2 sides will be completed as I find the time. I have them all drawn out, just need to get at them.
The back wall which have the large opening doors is a fall themed tree mural with a large owl in the tree, a racoon hanging off a branch and Canada geese flying south for the winter.
The side wall which faces the street beside the shop is a train station and train. Years ago there used to be a train station along the tracks which run behind my house. It is long gone but the station in the mural was done from an old picture of it.

Wow, can any of this be seen from the road? I’m thinking if you can than people must be stopping to get a better look.

Hi Wayne and Diane.
Wayne, I don’t have any photos of the inside of my shop right now, sorry. It desperately needs a major cleaning as I’ve been building a lot of paddles for customers lately which means lots of sanding and shavings. I am also in the process of re-designing the layout of the interior. I want to build a new workbench/outfeed table setup to replace the one I currently have, and move a couple of other items to more logical places. I’ll get some photos of it when it looks fit to photograph. :>)
Diane, yes it is visible from the road and I do get people stopping by from time to time to chat about the walls. I was out working one evening and had a young lad on his bike screech to a halt and exclaim that the walls were the neatest thing he’d seen all day. Cute.
Cheers,
Doug

Love the look of the outside of the workshop. It is a plesant change from the plain outsides you get to most workshops – Like mine. Waiting in anticipation for the inside view

Hi Doug,
I have to agree with Tony’s comment. The outside is one of the most colorful and artful shops I have seen. Pictures of the inside would be wonderful to see.
