The wood I am using was carbon dated by a person really into this. The material has a greenish tinge with edges of the boards showing severe wear from water movement for many centuries. I am just using the remaining wood left oiver from that log pair as it was not cut down as it just fell over 1 day in a swamp or river to get sunken into mud eventually then was perfectly preserved till it was recovered. I purchased the remaining lumber ( boards 26 inches wide) for my customer that is restoring the first plantation in Santee).
I have been real carefull to measure 3 times and cut once so I do not waste any because I cannot get anymore. No mistakes yet and am trying to keep it that way. I will include pictures when the doors are complete along with the shop. I work alone with my son to do all this and enjoy almost every minuite except collections! and deadlines.

You didn’t mention how old the wood was.
That is one wide board!

Great commission. It will be nice to see it. I have some bog white oak veneer. Small pieces that have the same color that you state is in your boards. I’ve not used any of it yet. it will be interesting to try.

This wood is priceless. You are fortunate to be working with something like this. I can’t wait for the pictures.
