The wood I am using was carbon dated by a person really into this. The material has a greenish tinge with edges of the boards showing severe wear from water movement for many centuries. I am just using the remaining wood left oiver from that log pair as it was not cut down as it just fell over 1 day in a swamp or river to get sunken into mud eventually then was perfectly preserved till it was recovered. I purchased the remaining lumber ( boards 26 inches wide) for my customer that is restoring the first plantation in Santee).I have been real carefull to measure 3 times and cut once so I do not waste any because I cannot get anymore.No mistakes yet and am trying to keep it that way.
