Sorry, no pics yet. Right now, my workshop in in the basement, but I’ve just received the “OK” to take over the 2 car garage. That’s the good news. The bad news in that it is 50 years old, has no power, and has no working doors. Oh, and the old 2×2 windows have no glass. Still, it’s a start. The building is about 22’ wide by 20’ deep. Right now, I’m stripping off the rolled asphalt that has been serving as the siding, and trying to get it emptied out. I’ve got my electricians quote for 100A service (yikes!), but that will have to wait until I get the new siding up, and build a main door – it’s going to be a sliding door – just like Norm’s.

I’ll post a few “before” shots this week, then open up a project so that others may share in my fun (who wants to hang drywall?)

Until then…

-Jon

Well, still no pics. I have them… somewhere. Let’s see, what have I done in the past almost-a-year that I’ve been working on the new shop…
The exterior has been resided and painted
All of the internal walls/partitions have been removed
I built an 8×8 sliding barn door
I replaced all (4) windows
I had a steel entry door installed
I (with the help of a carpenter friend) “raised the roof”. We created replacement trusses, so that I now have a vaulted ceiling – about 7’ on the outside walls to just over 10’ at the center
I’m about 75% done with the wiring. As soon as I can get that done (and inspected), it will be time to start on the ceiling (drywall), and walls (probably OSB). Last, a nice floor (probably Dri-Lok), and I’ll be in business!

I’ve got a blog about the construction/conversion of the garage/shop now. It even has pictures!

No pics, doesn’t exist. Sorry. LJ Rule #54.2b subsection 4.3.8

Hi Jon,

Any chance you have some pictures by now that you would be willing to share with the group?
