I am sorry for running off at the mouth the other day with my problems, I really do appreciate all the support that I received, it was truly amazing and unexpected. I do have an enlarged prostate and have to go back on the 16th for more tests. I don’t know what to say to you all except thank and God Bless you all. I realized after, this was not the place for me to unload my fears and I apologize for wasting your time for that. Mike

Mike: We want people to come to us for support. Like it has been said we are a community of different people. But, we care about one another. We are here to support you. We can’t be there to hold your hand, but, let us hold it from afar.
God Bless You.

Ditto what Dennis said. It is the community that brings us together here. We don’t have the kind of flame wars that seem to happen elsewhere in cyberspace. We are here to learn from each other and share information. If that information from time to time involves personal concerns we should support those personal concerns. If people felt that your post was inappropriate, people would not have responded. You reached out to the community and the community responded in a positive, caring way.

Mike… If no one on here shared anything except technical woodworking tidbits, it’d be an awfully boring place to visit. You made me feel better today knowing that I wasn’t the one getting a TV crew shoved up my most intimate places.
That is what we’re talking about, right… wrong forum? uh oh. I’ve said too much.

Don’t feel bad Mike
I live with a chronic pain disorder, everyday i have to struggle with it just to get through the day.
I spend lots of time in hospitals and i hate it but i do what i have to do.
I am grateful that i can still do woodworking most of the time and it,s even better when i can post it on here.
It,s nice to have a site like this to come too to distract me from my everyday pain.
When it comes to your health everyone should be concerned. Without that we are in big trouble.

ditto re: community and FAMILY.
if someone isn’t interested in personal discussions then they will just move on to the next woodworking post. Simple.
one of the hardest things about having internet friends is not being able to be there (and often not knowing) when something is happening in their 3D world.
With each other’s help we have been kept up to date about several members’ personal issues (children, spouses, selves).
Thank you for having the courage to share … AND it really says a lot about LJ.com that you come here for support!
God bless.. and we’ll be pullin for ya.

All is okay if you’re okay Mike! Just go to the Doc’s and take care of yourself. I have always felt that we are all here for a reason and it is up to us to find that reason. Sort of our Life’s goal.
You had a “strange” father also, Mike? I didn’t meet my real Father until I was nearly 40 myself. By the time I was 8, my Mom went through 3 fathers for me. Didn’t learn to trust anyone until I was out of college.
Amen to what MsDebbie says: if someone isn’t interested in personal discussions then they will just move on to the next woodworking post….. and: God bless… we’ll be pullin for ya.

I’m with the rest of the crew on this one Mike. Not to mention the fact that you got the prayers and support of people that care about you and would be concerned if you stopped showing up one day without warning. Experience, strength and hope (heard that one somewhere before?). That’s what LJs is about. Did they do a PSA test? Now you need to keep us in the loop, since we are all in this now!

Mike, you did not waste my time and I care about you and the other LumberJocks. I want to know when you need prayer or any other thing. I will continue to pray for your prostrate to shrink and for you to be well. My feelings are in agreement with all the previous post, too. We’re family!

Mike…what makes LJ special is that it’s not just about the woodworking. There are lots of sites out there that provide good woodworking info….but nobody cares about each other. I may not have met anyone in person yet but there are many folks here I consider a friend, and friends share their hopes and fears.
I know how you feel about being embarassed that you vented. I’ve been thinking about sharing some of my own fears and concerns here as well…...I wouldn’t do that if I didn’t think folks would care….share their own stories….and help me along the path my life takes. I have some difficult decisions to make in the near future and I’ll be asking my friends here for their advice and perspective.
I know things like this aren’t easy. I sometimes find myself saying why me? I do plan on discussing this at length later but a quick story to relate.
I was in the hospital to have markers embedded in my skull for radiation treatment. I was feeling pretty down. An orderly wheeled in a 9 year old boy into the waiting room and he and I got to talking. Here is a 9 year old kid that hasn’t had a normal day in his life, facing yet another round of chemo and radiation, and he is trying to cheer me up! From that day on every time I start to feel frustrated, I think of how fortunate I’ve been. Sometimes the cards we get dealt really suck. We just need to remember how lucky we are to have been in the game.
We’ll all keep our fingers crossed and have you in our thoughts…..you’re friends here care and want to know how you are.

The first time I had a PSA test, the clinic said my insurance wouldn’t pay for it. I told them I’d pay for it.
Later I called the insurance company, & questioned why they wouldn’t pay. They told me they only paid if you had cancer. I said isn’t that what the test is for, to find out if you have cancer. No answer!!
They ended up paying the bill. ”LOL”

Mike. I echo Bob’s comments. There are lots of technical sites out there, but this one is a little different. That is why this is the first site I visit when I get home from work every day. I consider myself a newbie here . . . but I feel welcome.
Residents of this site are more than a flat avatar spouting technical information . . . they are people. And people need a place to vent at times .. . I did so myself yesterday after my wife was poisoned by a neighbour spraying pesticides (she is doing much better now).
Dont worry about your posting . . . it did not bother me in the least.
Take care

Mike If you didn’t say anything then everyone would think that everyone is OK. And we hear small rumblings about someone going for a test. I’ll be gone for a while etc. We care for you and our fellow lumberjocks, as we care for our neighbours. (except those that spray pesticide). Don’t be embarrassed about asking for help. maybe individually we can’t do a lot but as a group we can all provide some support.
We love you Mike. Take care.

Mike,
I’m with everyone else here…I’m pretty sure someone once said that we are to bear each other’s burdens? How can we if we don’t know what they are?
Sorry my post about this is so late, like three visits to the doctor late…but I’m trying to catch up on things from when I was away traveling.
