Does it hurt to go to a urologist?

Blog entry by jockmike2 posted 458 days ago 352 reads 0 times favorited 24 comments Add to Favorites

I’ve got to go to a urologist tomorrow and I’m wondering who else has gone and what do they do? Yes I have noctoria and I have trouble stopping once I do get going. Listen, my dad died with prostate cancer, two uncles on my mothers side also, plus my grandad on my mothers side and my grandad on my Dads side. It just don’t look good. You know what I mean? Talk about needing some prayers, I’m begging you folks to hook up with your higher power, and ask for some help for this 57 yo junkyard. Anything would be appreciated, because, and I don’t admit this often, I’m scared! If you can fine some time and in your heart say a prayer for me, and believe me I’ll do the same for you someday. God Love you all jockmike

Mike , the short answer is no.

It hurts not to go.

Git your fanny in there and get it fixed!

Mike, it certainly won’t hurt after the pain goes away!

Depends on what the doctor does. I pass kidney stones, so I’m a little indifferent about any lesser pain. I once had a urologist stick a stint up my little fellow and it felt like he had inserted a telephone pole – kinda neat though and very impressive! LOL

Mike,
It hurts worse not knowing and letting things go. Everyone I talk to that has been in your situation tell me they wish they had went much sooner, knowing what they know now. You are in my thoughts and prayers for a quick recovery.

Ditto the above – I imagine it’s nothing compared to what women go through at the doctor. The exam doesn’t hurt at all physically – though I didn’t particularly enjoy the camera. The months leading up to my appointment were excruciating – the appointment was a day a the beach by comparison. happy to find out I only had an infection, now long, long gone – not the big C.

Good luck.

Mike, best of luck. Sometimes we can make things worse for ourselves by thinking and worrying too much, but I know it is hard not to worry and think about what might happen. Make sure you make your concerns known to the medical staff. Good luck, I’ll be thinking of you.

Mike, I will pray for you and God will be with you to help you through it. I have a co-worker that went through the surgery and he is doing well. I didn’t ask him whether or not it hurt, but they have great pain meds these days. Scared or not you know that it is something you must check on. If there is anything else you need, let me know.

Mike, Your fears are duly noted and not totally unwarranted considering your family history. Most of your first appointment will consist of gathering information including a history of your symptoms, most likely a UA (urine analysis. (pee in a cup) and routine blood work including a test called PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) which is very specific for prostate cancer. Normal values should be low single digits 2-4 range. This should be checked periodically considering your family history and age. Prostate gland surrounds the uretha ( the tube that drains the bladder) any enlargement of the prostate either benign (noncancerous) or malignant (cancerous.) puts pressure this tube. This pressure doesn’t allow the bladder to drain completely leading to frequent urination (often at night) because you never empty the bladder totally. Noncancerous enlargement called BPH is common in us 50 y/o types. Your doctor may also want to feel the protate to see if it’s enlarged, yeah the finger up the butt thing, not a pleasant thing but a necessary part of being a middle age guy. And a walk in the parkl compared to neglecting the problem. Not to fear you are not alone with this problem, early diagnosis is the key. Don’t put this off.
Hope this helps.

You got it Mike it was good talking to you tonight.

God:

We thank you for the life of Mike and for your blessings over him and his family. We bind the evil spirits that seek to put hereditary illnesses on your children. We jointly block them and call the Angles to surround him about and block the devil from getting near and hold him up to you for his Fatherly Blessing. We know that You have the power to heal and we are invoking that on Mike now. Bless him and his family and block all evil spirits from touching now and forever.

In Your Name we Pray.

Amen

Amen to Karson’s prayer for you Mike.
All of us are praying for you tonight. Do the right thing and get in to be seen. What ever the outcome it will be better to get in and start doing what comes next. You and I and a few others around here know that a mind is a terrible thing, so get the facts and you’ll be better off than letting your fears (rational or not) run the show. Be strong, my brother, but don’t go it alone. Keep us in the loop. You are already a miracle, nothing you did in your junkyard days has put you outside the grace or protection of God.

Douglas

Mike we’re with you! We’re all praying for you! (Thanks to Karson for those nice words)

I delt with a urologist for several years (over 14) becuase of a kidney disease: Polysystic Kidney Disease or PKD. It ended almost four years ago with a Kidney transplant. I still go back of course for semi-annual checks. But they are good people. They will take care of you. The only problem I have now is all these pills I take, but, you kow what? It’s much better than the alternative. Please keep us posted.

Prayers do help Mike!

Both Barb, & I will be praying for you Mike.
I’ve never had the problem your having, but have had a Colonoscopy done to me two times now. Everyone told me that it was an awful thing to have done, but it was a piece of cake. The best thing about it is it eases your mind when you find out that you don’t have anything seriously wrong with you.

So go for it Mike!
