I do my work in the 2 garage and/or the side yard. The garage must by law hold 2 cars at the end of the day, so all my tools, projects, and equipment must be pushed to the sides. Fortunately it’s a nice-sized garage. When working on the side yard, I usually bring out my old B&D Workmate and run an extension cord from the garage. I’ll usually take sawdust-creatin’ operations like the table saw and router out to the side yard as well. My latest purchase – the Bosch 4000-09 table saw with rolling stand has been great for this. There are 3 cabinets I made – 2 lower and one upper. One of the lowers has a benchtop with vises that I bought at Woodcraft, I believe. Though it could have been Rockler. I’m fortunate to have both of those stores located here in Orange County, CA. I get my wood from Home Depot or Reel Lumber. I need to explore some of the other local lumber suppliers, though.

Welcome to LumberJocks. If you get the chance, stop by Austin Hardwood & Hardware in Santa Ana. They have a good selection of lumber and other woodworking items.

Hello Jason,

It looks like you have a nice start on your shop. Having to move everything to get the cars in there makes organization of your tools a necessity. I tried that for awhile but eventually gave up and now my truck just sits outside in the driveway. But, like you, I do move my tools into the driveway when I need to make some dust (otherwise I get yelled at for “making such a mess”). :)

Anyway you have a nice shop space and I enjoyed visiting with you.

-- With God's help all things are possible- even woodworking. Woodworking is not just a hobby, it is an (expletive deleted) expensive hobby.

Thanks guys. Thanks for the tip, Jack. I’ll definitely checkout out Austin Hardware.
