Alright, the box is making its rounds now. jeffthewoodwhacker added an extra pen (thanks Jeff) and swapped a pen blank. Box was on it’s way by Thursday and Karson received it today in DE.
Here’s a map of the progress so far…

this is wonderful. I’m not part of the process but it’s fun to watch the journey.

I plan on getting into the shop today and picking out my additions to the package.
On the pen side, my wife selected the Goncalo ALves trimline pen and i selected the Olivewood pen put in by Jeff. I haven’t looked at the pen blanks or the kits with an eye for selection yet.

OK:
I made it into the shop today, Monday.
My wife selected the Goncalo Alves trimline pen. I replaced it with a Redheart Monte Blanc pen. I selected the Olive Wood pen that Jeff made and I replaced it with a Holly Slimline. I selected the Mongo Cream pen blank and I replaced it with a Cocobolo blank.
I also added to the package:
Purpleherart (1)
Nicaraguan Rosewood (1)
Bloodwood (1)
Bing Cherry (1)
Osage Orange Root (6)
Red/White/Blue Corian (1)
Smoke Wood Bush (5)
Blackwood (4)
Figured Maple (5)
Figured Oak (6)
The wood in the picture The red/white/blue Corian, SmokeBush, Osage Orange Root, Cocobolo, Purpleheart, Nicauragan Rosewood, Bloodwood, Bing Cherry.
Second row, Figured maple, Figured Oak, Figured Cherry (didn’t make the package no room), Blackwood.
The smokebush was a planting in my yard in New Jersey. The New Jersey Department of roads also planted them along the highways. They have green leaves and the tips have a growth that looks like smoke Similar to this.
I had some dead branches and imagine my surprise when I found this lemon yellow with red streaks wood. I kept all of the dead branches.
The figured maple crotch and figured Oak crotch were pieces of wood given to me by the sawmill owner. The Osage Orange root was from a tree that fell into the stream in my back yard. The bing cherry was from a fruit tree that didn’t make it.
The maple came from a log that was being cutup for firewood. It was a crotch with about 5 branches and about 3’ across. The sawmill owner cut it into fireplace sized chunks to get into my car. It is some beautiful wood.
Here are some pictures of my pen cases.
The figured oak is on the left and the figured maple is in the middle of the last set.
It should be in the mail tomorrow.
The people that follow me should take a couple of the misc additions that I added. There should be enough for everyone.

Sounds like the pen trade box is getting full! Karson, very nice pen collection you have there with some great wood species. If you are interested in some wild pear (smells like cat urine when being turned but looks great when finished) let me know and the next time I have some I will send it your way. Tim, you will have to let all of us know what the box has when it finally makes it way back to you.

Package put in the mail today. Yesterday was attending the fine arts fair with David, where he won his blue ribbon on his Outdoor Plant Stand.
So I got it in the mail today.

The pen package arrived at my home yesterday afternoon, I have not had a chance to
open it and go through it. With an outside temperature of -5 f my oil burner decided that it was the optimal time cease functioning. The HVAC mechanic has no heat ironic aint it. I will dig into the box this evening and get it on its way Monday. I will post then as to its additions and destination.
Just wanted to update everyone.
