Welcome to Lumberjocks. I am curious. What is the objective of your thesis?

Ditto on that above. Also what is the field of study for this thesis. Anything published on it yet? Sounds interesting.

Hi Michael,
You have a nice collection of hand tools and a nice start on your shop.
Thanks for the post.

Nice collection of tools. Is that a Jet table saw I see. Can you put a dado blade on it?

my thesis was about looking into a chipper for osb production. they told me that nobody before looked into the machine during the cutting process and I tryed to do what they wanted me to do. They wanted to know how they can upgrade the machine for less failure in the strand geometry. The major problem was to get enough light into the machine to get a good quality on the screen
In the end it was a time and money issue. also a lot of hot daylight lamps and very thin wood strands are no good combination for safety…
I do have a nice high speed video of a Forstner bit cutting into oak. I just don’t know how to post it. I’ll figure something out…;)

....yes it is a jet “supersaw” with a sliding table and don’t get me started on putting a dado blade in it! it did cost me at least 2 years of my life to be able to put a dado blade in this saw. In germany dado’s are forbidden. and because jet wants to sale saws here too they had to make sure that no dado blade will fit in. the arbor standard for table saws is 30mm everything different is not allowed to use or you are not insured. jet did a good job on that, I had to change quite a few things to put a dado on. and to find a dado with a 30mm bore was a challenge too. I had to buy it in england because they luckily have a mix between metric and standard ans so I could buy a freud 8” stacked dado set and I am very happy with that- nice clean cuts in all materials(that was the short version)

Nice shop Michael. Looks like a nice set of Japanese chisels you’ve got. Welcome to LumberJocks. Enjoy the company here.
