This is my shop in the basement of my home.. It’s a hobby I do to relax late at night or during weekends. I like working with hand tools, but if there is much to do I do not mind using machines. Many of the machines in these pics have now been changed …and the shop has not been this clean in months! I will update the pics later.

You have a wonderful shop space and a stunning collection of hand tools. With this many I can well understand why you tend to favor using these versus power tools. I really like your shop walls too by the way.
You have a nice shop space in which to work and you have some wonderful toys to play with. I would enjoy working in a shop like this.
Thanks for the tour and it was nice to visit with you. If you do have some updated pictures it would be nice to see them.
By the way you live about an hour from me. I live in Frankfort. It is nice to see not only another Kentuckian on board here but also to see a neighbor.

Very nice shop! I wish I had a fraction of hand planes that you have. In Photo #1, what is the black loop that you used to hang your planes?

That one wall of tools reminds me of the final scene in the movie Twister. Luckily, you are in the basement.
Really great space grougier.

The black loops are a 1/4 OD plastic hose from Lowes, a 1/4 short piece of dowel is fitted inside the cut ends to make a loop and a 1/4 plastic wire tie down is fitted over the dowel to keep the ends from coming loose; the plastic tie down is screwed to the panel and serves to hold all but the heaviest planes (I have screwed a short piece of wood to help support the large ones). This works well and the planes are always handy.

That’s an impresive collection of moulding planes!! Did you get them all together or collect them for years? Old hand tools of all types interest me, but moulding planes are special. Each one was made for just one profile and a master furniture maker had to have so many, like you! I look at fine antique furniture and then at the tools they used to make them & it blows me away.
Thanks for shareing
