I like the jointer. It is a smooth and powerful machine. I tweaked the outfeed table a little and that’s all. I have not done much face surfacing yet; mainly edge jointing. Since I take classes on the weekend I like to save the wear and tear for the school machines. :)

A good looking shop there Giz. I love that workbench. Did you build that yourself? What are its dimensions? I need to build one for myself, so I am trying to get ideas.

The plans come from Getting Started in Woodworking, Shop Projects. I made the bench in a couple of weekends. I read the Workbench Book, by Landis. I made the legs a little longer since I am tallish. The joinery is all biscuits and lag bolts or screws. I could blog some construction pictures if people are interested.

It is completely do-able.

Didn’t I see a different view of this shop in some weird guys comic strip? Or some guys weird comic strip?
Looked pretty messy after 5 hours.
Is this where you’re storing all that Canadian lumber?

Fir is your wood of choice, correct?

That’s right Lee. The fir is free. (or at least cheap). It is bad right now (messy) I just try to walk around the shop without hitting my back into something made of steel.

Hi Giz,

I don’t know how I have not managed to visit your shop before now but I am glad it came up on my review list. You have a nice shop space. It is well organized, as it has to be with all the tools that you have managed to fit into there, and you have some nice tools to play with. You have a nice space in which to work.
