I just timed the time it took for our home page to load on my computer. 3 min. and 10 sec. and I have a cable modem. If I were using dial-up the page would never have loaded. If the new membership has dropped in the last couple of weeks? I think that this could be the problem.

Hi Gene, Not quite sure what you meant in your message. I am still trying to get my computer to where I want it to be because I do so many different things with it. It is a struggle buddy. Also, I am making a concentrated effort of studying some advanced mathematics and I am not sure I will be able to handle it. I was awarded a Math CAD license for my efforts on the part of children so now I have to really try hard to gain control over the subject so I can help youngsters with it. That is probably why you haven’t heard from me in awhile plus the computer problems that I had along with everything else. 107 degrees here today and it did not even feel all that hot. No humidity at all. Must be down in the single digits again. Pool is nice and wet however, warm too about 98 right now.
Now lets get to something really important. How are you doing? Things getting any better health wise? I sure hope so. Your in our prayers my friend. Take care and go slow. WE Ain’t so young anymore. God Bless All.

Gene – The LJ homepage seems to take a long time to load. I set my favorites link to the login page
http://lumberjocks.com/account/sign_in
It comes up a lot faster and you can sign right in if you want to or go anywhere else you want.

have you tried powering off your computer equipment (including the modem) shutting off the surge strip and restarting after a minute. Sometimes the cable modem needs to be reset to work properly.

Gene,
Does this happen with all sites? Maybe you said before- I couldn’t find the post. Also, what operating system are you using and what browser- Internet explorer? Version? Mozilla Firefox? version?

I have a DSL line (mid-range speed) and the home page loads in about 3-4 seconds. My network does get slow sometimes and I have to reset my wireless router by powering it off and back on.

Try going to speedtest.net and check out how fast your internet connection is, sometimes cable speeds can vary significantly.

If you have mediacomm you may have to bang on them abit. I know in our area they had some capacity issues, and I had to really get on them(nicely though), I got to know the onphone techs pretty well over the 2x a night for 5 days I called them…Now my line is fixed and fast again.

I re-booted everything and cleaned the old computer up a bit. Seems to have helped. Thanks for all of the advice. Sorry, I just timed my computer again and it took 2 min. and 50 sec. to load the home page.
