My basement workshop is 160ft^2. Until recently it has been primarily a place to work on small remodel projects for around the house and high power rockets (look for the 6’ tall black rocket on the top shelf). The workshop bench, pegboard, and lumber racks were already in place when I purchased the home, so I assume a previous owner also used this space for a woodshop. I use part of the laundry room space for my bandsaw. I also enter the workshop through the laundry room.
Over the past year or so, I have begun outfitting it with most of the basic larger items such as table saw, jointer, dust collector, bandsaw and planer. Here’s a list of the primary tools:
Delta 36-979 10” table saw with T2 fence
Dewalt DW733 12” planer
Grizzly G0604 6” jointer
JET AFS1000B air filtration system
Steel City 1Hp dust collector
Central Machinery 8” table top drill press
DeWalt DW713 10” miter saw
DeWalt DW618 router combo kit
Mark1 14” bandsaw (I think this is an old Harbor Freight saw)
I really like the table saw, jointer and dust collector being on wheels so I can move them around when working with longer stock. I move the jointer/planer/bandwaw away from the wall and partly into the doorway. This seems to work pretty well with minimal tool movement. I need to get a longer dust collector hose so I can leave that by the table saw most of the time and just run the hose over to the other equipment when needed.
I am thinking about moving the shop to my detached 2 car garage this summer. I may post progress on my blog if it becomes a reality.
Nothing is better than spending a Saturday in here with the radio going while it’s raining outside and sweeping up with a cold one. Thanks for looking and let me know if you have any idea to arrange the shop more efficiently.

Like Gary I really enjoy touring other woodworkers’ shops.

Hi Freitag,
Thanks for the pictures. You have a nice shop space and some nice tools to work with. I like the finished ceiling. It certainly will lighten up your shop. Nice use of pegboard as well.
Thanks for the tour. I really appreciate it.
