I grew up on a small farm. I started driving a truck when I was 18. I have had my own truck and flatbed trailer for 16 years. I have also done a few other things along the way; welder for 1 1/2 years, loader operater/ truck driver at a sawmill for 5 years. I had a part time lumber business about 15 years ago, drying red oak for the Amish cabinet shops in the area. Due to circumstances beyond my control, I had to close that business after a couple years. About 3 years ago I was able to get back into the lumber business. I started out selling lumber and cabinet parts to the local shops (over 60 within 30 miles of my house), and later began to focus on making custom flooring. I hope to make this my full time business soon and just drive part time.

Hi Freehardwoods,

Let me welcome you to LJs. I hope that you will find this to be a rewarding and exciting part of your woodworking journey.

-- With God's help all things are possible- even woodworking. Woodworking is not just a hobby, it is an (expletive deleted) expensive hobby.

Thanks,
At the moment my wood business is only a sideline but I started it to hopefully be able to switch careers. Irishhandyman, who told me about this website, runs my shop. Sometimes I have to ask him how to do something in my own shop. I hope to make it a fulltime occupation someday.

Welcome to Lumberjocks. The projects are an inspiration, the information is priceless and the people are supportive. The only problem is, the site can get addictive.

Never thought I would look at a mape and see Lagootooee, Ind. Most people people have never heard of it. My folks had retired down there about 20 years ago. They have both passed away now but still remeber how pretty it was down there.

God Bless
tom
