I am a 44 year old polack who wound up in central Florida in 1979 at the age of 15 after being born in California, and living in New Jersey and all around central New York, mostly near Oneida. As a teenager, I started working for my aunt who carved redwood signs. I cut out thousands of blank shapes that she would then letter and paint. I did some of that myself along with building lots of displays to suit "Mall" requirements. Spending so much time on the bandsaw gave me proficiency to start doing freehand letters, so I would go to shows with her and work for her and also cut my letters which I was surprised that people would pay for. Desk plaques, wall names, addresses and even some commercial signage. We traveled all over, doing mall shows from Miami to Phoenix. We were spending the summer of '82 working in Keystone, S.D. at the foot of Mount Rushmore, when I met my wife, a candle carver also from central Florida. We have been together ever since. Around 1988, after six years of living on the road, earning our living from show to show, my wife and I decided to stay put for awhile here in Haines City. I went to commercial art school till the funding ran out, worked as a commercial signmaker, dealt in antiques, took 3 years of vocational cabinet making and millwork. Now, I work in a paper mill and am trying to get my woodworking off the ground. I love the arts & craft and the Japanese styles very much, especially Greene & Greene. I also favor the flowing forms of the art nouveau movement. I am not much of a purest of any one style as long as it is well executed. I hope to soon be able to support us on my woodwork alone doing small pieces of furniture and neat boxes. Stuff that can easily be transported or shipped. I just want to pay the bills and be left to my designs.
I was very excited to find Lumberjocks. It has rejuvenated my desire to do my work as a craftsman.
I wish to thank everyone here at LJ for giving me such a warm welcome.

Glad you made your way here. I would love to live in a place where I could have some peacocks around. My son has always really liked them. Which is why the stuffed one ended up at our house.

Welcome to LJ. Your interest in styles is perfectly in line with mine. As well as the philosophy of purism. I am so open to interpretation.

I think you will enjoy it here, great group of guys (and gals).

Your taste in humor looks to be in-line as well, I love the Red Green Show.

Used to work at the Costco in south Orlando many years ago. Lived in St. Cloud, Kissimmee, and Ocoee.

Thanks for the welcome, and interest in the guitars. I blogged a guitar how-to article. Sorry, no pictures, but I figure most will be able to follow. Hope it helps.

Thank you for the comments about the tool tote. I took a look at you projects as well. You have some serious design and execution talent.

Like you, I’m fond of G&G and I find Art Nouveau intriguing. I also have a liking for Art Deco, Spanish Colonial, Japaneese Tansu, and Federal style, as long as the pieces aren’t too ornate and fussy.

Thanks, again.
