I just wanted to clear up the fact that I have been posting items, or projects that I have done in the past…. recently as well as the passed 40 years. Some of them are my own personal collection…. probably never to be replicated. A comment was made to me that “I have really been producing.” I do ok for an “old foggie ”, but there is no way I can be putting it out as fast as I am listing it. ... even if I am retired and don’t have anything to do…..a…ummm….. yeah… right. I’m so busy now I don’t know when I ever found time to work. I have been just trickling projects into my gallery a little at a time….... rather than over powering the site. Don’t know if that makes any sense or not. I want everyone in the world to appreciate my work. I wish I had pictures of the altars that I carved back in the early ‘60s’ . So I urge you to be anxious with me as I will be showing some of my earliest carvings, as well as the first. The first one needs a little repair work.
THANK YOU ALL YOU GUYS FOR ALL OF THE FINE COMMENTS YOU GIVE ME AS I APPRECIATE ALL OF YOU GOING OUT OF YOUR WAY TO TELL ME ABOUT IT. MOOCHO GRATIAS!
(I know that’s probably spelled wrong, sorry!)
DAVE

Dave, if anybody thought you had been turning out your carvings at the same rate you were posting them, perhaps they souldn’t be playing with power tools or other sharp instruments. <grin>

Hi Dave
Keep those beautiful carvings coming! I am doing the same thing you are by posting pass projects. Once the shop is up and running I will start posting newer ones. I have 6 jobs people are wanting already. Did I say I was retired. Have a nice day.
God Bless

Hi Dave,
Keep the posts coming. There is no time frame on these projects. We have people posting stuff from high school shop (all of which are infinitely better than the project that I have from my local high school class). I know that retirees are supposed to have a lot of free time on their hands but there is no way anyone could produce this many projects in real time (unless you happen to have a shop full of elves).
Go back as far as you want. I don’t get tired of looking at your carvings.
-- With God's help all things are possible- even woodworking. Woodworking is not just a hobby, it is an (expletive deleted) expensive hobby.

Oh…I was starting to think you were “Super Dave, Carver Extraordinaire.” My image of you has just been shattered ;-0 BTW…you don’t look like an “old Foggie” Enough humor, Keep’m coming! So far they have all been extraordinary works. I can’t imagine the hours it takes to complete one of them.

So sorry to shatter your image of me Greg…. but it does depend on what one calls an old foggie. I have my on days and my off days.
Thanks Scott, I am happy to be able to give you a little enjoyment !!! To put so many projects on is real work. Whew !!! And to think, I am just getting started. It will take me longer when I have to start taking pictures of the projects I don’t have in pics.
THANKS ALL !!!! ..................DAVE

If I lived closer to you, I’d be hounding you to be an apprentice in your shop to learn a 1/1000th of what you know about carving ;)
Cheers,
Gary

dlcarver,
(I also posted a blog in response with the same answer here, so it could be discussed further.)
You bring up an interesting point. Let me start by saying that I did the same thing when I joined a few months ago. As soon as I found this place, I got so excited that I went back and took photos of as many of my recent or past projects as I could and posted them. It is great to have a place like this to showcase one’s work.
There was an opinionated blog posted a couple weeks ago by another LJ complaining about the very same thing… that new members were posting too many of there projects at once, and it was flooding the “projects” area.
Since this is a relatively common thing for new members to do, I tend look at it with a positive spin: I see it as a new member’s right to have a kind of “break-out” debut. It happens all the time in “projects,” where half the page is from one person. It gives those of us who have been here a while a chance to really get to know a persons “portfolio” and be introduced to their style through a whole body of work.
I kind of like it and see nothing wrong with it. The fact that you are aware of it shows consideration. So in my opinion, post away.

Hi Dave;
I for one am always happy to see your posts.
Very artistic, which sadly is not one of my strong points.

Post away! Don’t feel bad. I was disappoionted to hear that you don’t carve all those birds the same day you post them. How dare you! :)

Hey Lee !
Your have artistic abilities….. they are just in a different way. Yours’ leans more toward the Architecural side of the craft, Don’t cut yourself short. Be good to yourself too.
Regards Dave

Hi Blake!
Thank you for your response and the way you explained the situation…...(just exactly the way I feel). I basically waited for 35 years for a show case like this…. FREE …. my etsy site (below) is also FREE to belong. What little you do spend in commision and paypal….. is spent willingly and happily. It also gives me a chance to know you guys better and (make some new friends) that I never would have made other wise. It is also a good way to get some answers to a lot of technical questions….(which I have plenty of).
THANKS AGAIN…...BUDDY !
Dave
