no previous part Part 1 of Extreme Birdhouses , week # 1 series no next part

Well it is finally nice to get back to work again .
I had 10 birdhouses to build then it grew to 12 yesterday so in order to get them done in good time i decided to build 4 at a time.
Six of them will be made from 80 year old barnwood and the wood will be planed down and the other six will be done with 120 year old natural barnwood.

I will be having plans made up for the most of the houses. I am also anxious to get these done so i can get back to building the large ones. lol

!

Very cool. Reminds me of playing with Lincoln Logs when I was a kid.

Looking good John! I like the look of the planed barn board. It has a real rich quality to the wood. I hope you just moved those outside to shoot them..your not building them outside in the snow! You should make a tiny picture frame and print out a little postage stamp size picture of yourself, put it in the frame and hang it on the wall inside the birdhouse!

Hello John;
—-great work, going on here!

The birdhouses are looking old//new and then there’s the 80//120 years of natural barnwood character aging. I just keep coming back to the first photo up there and admiring the knowledge of detail that you use in your framing of them.

I also noticed the snowblower….snow, and so I see you have been busy working outside also. It’s snowing again today, (Saturday) ....5’’....8’’....10’’....12’’, but then who’s counting, enjoy your winter there John as spring is soon coming.

....by the way, I also know what it means to turn a ’house into a workshop for now’....

Thank you.
GODSPEED,
Frank

How much rent do the birds pay? If it were a bit bigger, I might have considered moving in myself..

Great work

Here is a update from last week. I didn,t get a whole lot done as far as building but i am getting lots of logs cut . I still have to feed them through the tablesaw 2 more times. A friend of mine just gave me 3 pickup truck loads of barn boards in return for a birdhouse Which will give me enough wood to build 30 or 40 more. Now i am only 14 houses behind. lol

The birdhouses you built remind me the loghouse I’ve been dreaming to build someday.
Cosy birdhouses. You have plenty of lumber and sawdust too.
