Honey Do List #4: Toybox Complete

« Part 3: Toybox in Progress - Finger out of commission Part 4 of Honey Do List series no next part

I’ve finally completed the toybox and will post pictures of it hopefully tonight. I’ve also managed to knock out other projects recently including basement storage shelving, garage storage shelves, and finally hanging some drapes in the family room. the drapes was the scariest part since they are 17 feet long and I have to climb up on a ladder just to hang the rods for them.

So on my overall list here’s where I’m at:

  • Entertainment Center – designed to match our current coffee table and end tables.
  • Toybox with attached bookcase – COMPLETE
  • Executive Style Desk
  • Daybed with Trundle Bed -COMPLETE

Additionally, I want to build the following items:

  • Poker Table for the basement
  • Wet Bar area for entertaining.
  • Wall-to-Wall Bookcases for the office
  • Improve the kitchen cabinets with crown molding and interior drawers for cabinets
  • Wainscoting for the office
  • Workbench for the Garage (I use 1 car stall currently) – PARTIAL (Just moved elevated my computer desk for now)

I’ve been instructed that I must do the entertainment center next by Household-6 (wife, Household Commander). It’s not a full entertainment center as many might think, but a basic coffee table type design that is much taller and with side bookshelves.

That’s quite a list you have there. Good luck!

That list should keep you out of trouble for a while. Hope the “6” likes the toy box. can’t wait to see the picts. Let me know when you want to make another wood run. Had a great time.

I agree that is an ambitious list. But by articulating it you have mentally committed to the projects and getting started is usually the hardest part of the project.

By the way if “6” is anything like my wife she has a long list of projects and all of them are, of course, #1 priority.

I made the mistake of justifying my tool purchases by telling the wife “think of all the things I can make for around the house” she now tries to hold me to those words.
It will be great whaen you have your list complete ypu’ll have something to be proud of.

I have a simple rule, if the project requires a new tool then she has to let me buy it before I start the project. So far I have managed to get the following items: table saw, compound mitre saw, electric planer, new mouse sander (for those pesky corners), and numerous other small items. However, she told me for father’s day that she was getting me a “wet saw”. The list just became longer with those two words. Tiling all three and 1/2 bathrooms and the kitchen. Why is it always the handy guys that do all the work while those who aren’t handy pay someone else. Is it because us “handy” guys are gluttons for punishment?
