I recently got “Hand-Cut Dovetails” with Rob Cosman and started practicing. This is the first attempt which is now a baby toy (no lead).
Lessons learned. The stock is 1/4” thick. I think thicker material (3/4”) would be easier.

I got got hooked on wood while working on wood boats with a sailing friend of mine. I recently got my first big piece (table saw
) and have started my path learning to make things that last.

That’s a great start,Che. There is an article in this month’s FWW on joints. It had some info that I hadn’t thought about much. some really good trick to perfect dovetails and other joints. Keep up the good work.

Rob is a great DVD teacher and an excellent in person teacher. You are off to a great start if that’s your first attempt. I don’t think I cut a good joint until I was well into my 20th attempt. Great job!
