I see you replied in the profile section, maybe about pics. Do I post them here or in another section? I don’t see any provision for uploading, so where would I post? While I got you on the line, is this a PM method, or if it isn’t, what is the signal for a message?

At the top of the page there’s a “add new project” there will be a page to put in a discription of the item, whatever you want to write about it, who, what, when why, and where and you can add 3 pictures. There’s also a personal Blog you can write in. and then there’s the whole “Forum” page which will take you a while to wander around in there.

It’s good to have you join us, CM. You’ve started with one very big project which reveals a highly refined professional level of skill. Obviously, you earn your living being a cabinet maker. This fact grabs my respect immediately. For me and a few other members here, we hang around guys like you hoping to learn. Welcome!
PS: I always miss not having at least a first name by which to address you – hope you don’t mind ‘CM’.

I guess us geezers have to pace ourselves. I know what you mean about the aches the next day. Good thing our minds are still young. BTW, what happened to your posts, I think on ww.com. Did you check out and sign back up? What’s your latest projects? Any woodworking going on?
==========================
On ww.com… I think Marc thought I was trying to knock off the chip on his shoulder and got pissed one day and deactivated my pw or account… I had it set to auto/remember & never had any problems until I had to reinstall my system… Then, it wouldn’t work… I contacted Marc and he set me up with an Old test account… All of my favorites, etc. were reset to ZERO… Sounds like Marc has purged the system… don’t know… don’t care… :)
One day, I got back into looking at the http://www.routerforums.com/ forums… and really liked it… next thing you know, they asked me to be a Moderator (can you imagine that?! ME, a Moderator!). I told them that always had a tendancy to speak my mind w/o any hanky/panky & sometimes people get upset… They said that was OK… etc. etc…
So, I accepted… Not bad… I made it a point that I will just do what I can do when I can do it… NO PRESSURE / STRESS FOR THIS PUPPY! They said OK…
I look back into ww.com once in awhile… but get drawn back to the RWS…
As far as woodworking goes, it has been slow… My shop has been a complete MESS ever since I obtained a lot of goodies from the death of a great friend next door…
Prior to that I almost had a wall shelf project completed… I have to fix a couple of goof-ups then it will be ready for finishing… Sliding dovetails on two sides of brackets where the top & back just slide into place… my first attempt at it, using router… turned out pretty good… never got back to it… will now…
A friend, a great golfer, had a trophy that had a gold club as part of it and she had lost it… I told her I would make her another one… strictly a hand tool job… The driver was about 6” long… I looked at her actual driver, made some sketches, etc. and went from there… I shaped the club out of some walnut or similar exotic scrap… shaft out of hard maple scrap… Carved / sanded it all by hand… drilled 1/16” hole to mount shaft to club… looks SO REAL! Coated it with acrylic… looked like hell… rubbed off all of it… and ended up taking a large Super Sharpie felt point marker and marked it up! Here club was almost a black so this worked beautifully… soaked right into the wood… buffed a little then just waxed it! Looked great… she liked it too! I took some pics of it, but are still in camera.
That’s about it… Have been working on shop… making huge improvements so I can get back in there and DO something!! Before, I couldn’t even walk through it without bumping and getting snagged on something… Still have more to do… but much better!
I want to make a couple of magazine / bookcase units with a console (chest like piece) in the middle for mag’s, books, TV, VCR, etc. Have it all drawn out, etc. Ready to start! (except for shop)...
I also want to make a Barrister Bookcase that was in Popular Woodworking very recently… It really appeals to me… They have finally come up with a beautiful way to build them!
Cool way of stacking the units, etc.
What have you been up to?
Take care…

I guess you really distinguished a wood from an iron. As for ww.com, I know what
you mean. Remember the I’ll Kick Your A$$ thread. That was probably the start
of it. Man, that one was fun.
Too bad about your friend. Is that the guy in the avatar with you? As for me, been
doing a lot of remodeling on my own house. Puttin’ in new windows, tearing out
ceilings, insulating and puttin’ up new ceiling tiles. Now I know what Michaelangelo
went through on the Chapel ceiling. I also gotta install a new front door. Couldn’t
buy a pre-hung, because the existing transom is the headrail for my door. So I just
bought a Fir door with glass fan lites. Man that baby is heavy. I remember doing
a lot of doors in the 70’s and 80’s and they were a lot lighter then – ha,
ha, ha.
I cut the first dining table I ever made (in the 70’s) longwise and took out
about 16” in the middle to make a sewing table for LOML, and put casters on
it. It’s basically an Oak Parsons design. I’ve been using it for about 30
years, and LOML decided we should get a new dining set> I said “I’ll
make it”. She said ” NO, we will just go and buy one”. Can you imagine
me going to a furniture store and buying a wood dining room set – WHOOO-BOY. Times
are a changing. Really though, I’ve got too much to do to build a set. I’d
probably be 115 yrs old by the time I finished and wouldn’t have an appetite
at that age.
Anyway it’s good to hear from you again, and congrats on the Modship. I’ll
have to stop in.
Mike
============================
That golf club was a big BIG B I G . . Bertha type… not an iron. :)
That guy in my avatar is Sam Maloof… a neighbor about 2 miles away… he’s still alive & well, last I heard. :)
My next door neighbor passed away @ 94 on Fri. 13th of October 2006… great guy… really miss him… :(
Wow, I’ve never heard of converting a dining table to a sewing table! That must be one beautiful large sewing table… with enough room to really spread the stuff out on!
No, I can’t imagine you going to a store to BUY furniture… Just wait til you see the Price Tags… the sticker shock may change your mind… It would be a cold day in hell before I’d pay those high prices for something I could do better & cheaper!! Good luck…
You must STILL be in pretty good shape to be doing what you’re doing!! Good for you!! I literally hurt from head to toe… shoulders, arms, back, hip, feet, & legs… I will be trying to play water volleyball at the “Y” today… with a beach ball… I will do what I can… don’t think I’ll be doing much jumping around… :)
I noticed those doors getting heavier too… it was a solid door from HD… weighed a ton… was going to use it for a desk top on top of a couple of file cabs… was so heavy I took it back & got a hollow core door… even THAT was heavier than I remember them being! :)
Yes, drop in to the RWS forum… I like it… The router is my second favorite tool next to my band saw…
Later… & thank you for making connections again!
