I'm still a beginner - been doing this for about 5 years now, since we bought our first house, and I wanted to do some remodeling... that led to putting some paneling and trim work in the downstairs room... which led to making built-in shelves around the fireplace... which led to a few custom cabinets in the kitchen... to now where the garage is rapidly filling up with tools and I'm starting to do some real solid wood furniture.

Still lots to learn (and more tools to acquire), but I'm really into it and enjoying it so far. Hope it gets even better as I gain more skills & experience.

From your picture I can tell you are very young. Be careful around the power tools ;)

Thanks for making me welcome here. The picture is my son at about 1-1/2 with his “safety gear” on – he’s much cuter than I am. He’s now nearly 3, and every time I pull out a hammer or a drill, he runs to get his own little toy version – such fun!

Welcome to LumberJocks! Your story’s similar to mine…except that I had started many years earlier with a short stint in a cabinet shop and doing theatrical set work before a very long hiatus while I was single and living in downtown Chicago (condo, not very DIY friendly).

It all started coming back to me after moving to the ‘burbs and starting the home remodeling process.

Welcome!
