I’m not going to beat about the bushes with this utility bathroom shelf.
It is what it is, a shelf made from a 2×4.
I made it from a 2×4 ( spruce).
The top and shelves are 7” wide and 12” long.
The unit stands 25” tall.
The 2×4 was sliced in half and the boards jointed to make the shelves.
The four legs are 2” tapering down to 1-1/4”. Each section of the leg has two dowels placed to pin it to the shelves, the legs had to be cut in opposite directions from the stock to acheive the right width at the top.
The finish is nitrocellulose lacquer – White.
Time is not my freind right now so I have to make do with a few minutes in the shop when it presents and lately, that’s not often.
Cheers
Bob

Gary, What momma want momma git!
Roman you know darn well your welcome to those towels, just run it it past the boss first.
I ‘m lucky to get a shot of this thing right now as I am just in the finishing stages of a $15,000.00 office/warehouse reno. Ceiling electical, bathroom upgrades, demolition and repaiir and the list goes on. We took 30 yards of material out before we could even start and I could use another 15 cu yd bucket.
It’s so over heated here that people have been coming in while we are working trying to rent the space.
Cheers

You guys are killing me (in a good way) with all the things being made with a standard
2×4 stick.
Great job on the design and execution.

I’m just kidding Bob#2
As much as some might think I look good near pink towels, really I dont. No arguement there. The subject of pink towels in my bathroom has never come up yet…..........thankfully.
Good to know the market is doing well in your endeavors.
I love renovating
.......seriously

Hey Bob #2…....that’s good thinking. I like the beaded detail on the lower shelves and the tapered legs. That’s a good look’in project.
Oh nice touch on the towels with the nice ruffle and lace :)

That is a really nice project. I am amazed by the projects that can be completed from a simple 2×4. Before seeing the projects posted here I only thought of it in terms of rough construction and would never have envisioned using one for a furniture project. The imagination of some of the members of this group simply has no boundaries and they are capable of working well outside the box.
You and the others posting 2×4 projects are an inspiration to the rest of us.

no one (but us LJ’s) will ever know what lies at the heart of your project. Oh what wonders the lowly 2×4 has now achieved, never expecting such transformation, thanks to this contest

Great job with a single 2×4. Heck, that would be a great job with grade A hardwood!

That’s just…ummm…Wow just doesn’t seem to cover it. Very impressive from a single 2×4.

That’s a dandy, Bob. I never think anything about what I find in the bathroom. I keep the one in the shop suitably “Manly”( dirty) to suit me. And the towels ain’t pink.

i just keep shaking my head. Every time I see a 2×4 project, I am in awe at what has been created.
This is beautiful. Love the legs and the smooth, rounded top.
Very nice

Good job. Actually looks practical.
I really need to ‘up’ my finishing skills.
