Bob: My parents got married and lived in Ribstone. Not far from you in Edmonton I guess.

I was born in Ontario after they moved.

Ribstone was/is off of Hwy #14 east on Range Road #2-5 (Battle Valley Road), in between Edgerton and Chauvin. It would be tough to find, but just for fun I’ll go out that way on my way to Sask and get a picture of the sign if there is one…just for you, Karson!

I am very impressed with the quailty of knowledge here and the detail that you go to to explain your work to the other members.

I’ve been meaning to ask Bob. Is that your dog? A friend of mine had a Malamute/timberwolf mix when I was a teenager. One of the most massive dogs I’ve ever seen 225 lbs, and it was all muscle, when he stood on his hind legs he looked me straight in the eye and I’m 6’4”. He was the biggest baby I’ve ever known. He didn’t care for most other dogs though(he was raised with mine so he tolerated him) He would just stare at them and growl and most would simply walk away. He loved people though. Not too many would get close however. You should have seen the wide berth that folks gave my friend when he walked down the street. My friend was 6’6” 330 lbs and then he has this monster walking next to him. If folks didn’t know them they’d cross the street. It was kind of funny because they were both as harmless as could be.

Hey Bob!
That avatar is a lot like the dogs I had on my dog team as a kid.
I guess that’s why I chose the picture.
I have been an animal lover all my life and the wolf and coyote seem to me to be the most resilient of the predators left out there. They are communal and extremely kind and protective of their young.
I guess I just have a soft spot for them.

This poem kind of signifies what they are all about and what we should be.

I really like the picture you left on my pawn comments page. Did you turn all of those pieces. If so that is very impressive.

Hi again Techguy, Yes, I turned those pieces . It was a really long boring job but the results seems worth it.
I did a board at the same time and the pieces store inside it.

I was trying to encourage you to persist with you hobby instead of just trying different skills.
It really easy to get caught up in tool pruchase and end up with nothing to show for your time.
That’s not to say that if a thing bores you to death that you should not toss it and try another task.
Woodworking is very humbling so hang in there and reap the real joy of making something your happy with.
