Many thanks to all forum members that have welcomed me on board..that much fellowship has never been received from any of the many other forums I frequent..I do have one question…I’m having a difficult time finding a source for two (2) hard to find forstner drill bits…I’m in desperate need of a forstner drill bit in size 13/32” and 33/64”....any suggestions as to where I might be able to find either or both? all help will be greatly appreciated…thanks from the bluegrassstate..

These people say if they don’t have it they will make it.

Advantage Drillbits.

Good luck. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Fortner bits in that small an increment. You may have to go with a metric bit, which a 10mm and 13mm are the closest.

Hi:

You didn’t state your context or tolerances, so here’s some ideas.

Lee Valley has a good selection of Forstner Bits in both Imperial and Metric sizes, but none exactly to your requirements. You might want to think about re-working a slightly larger size, either on your own or take them to a machine shop.

  • The 13/32” size calculates to 10.3mm. LV has a 12mm size that you could re-work. Also, LV has a 7/16” size that calculates to 11.11mm size that you could re-work.
  • The 33/64” size calculates to 13.1mm. LV has a 14mm size that you could re-work.

Just a thought…

I install medallions on pistol & revolver aftermarket grips from several different manufacturers..two of the most popular one’s are from Smith & Wesson and Colt…standard procedure is to drill with the closest sized forstner drill bit I have available and ream the opening to fit the two sizes I need, which are 13/32” and 33/64”..I would like to find forstner drill bits for the exact size needed to make for a better and much easlier fit…I’ll check with the supply companies provided by the forum members and try to find exactly what I need..once again, thanks for all who have responded to my posting…from the bluegrassstate..
