Here is my first podcast , I’am re-releasing this in the right section of lumberjocks. In this video I go through the making of the basic drafts board. I’am using veneer on this project , I was also thinking about making this project out of purple heart and maple , like a cutting board design. I hope you like this video. Excuse the lighting I will improve the lighting in the second part.
The second part of this podcast will focus on making a box to exclose the drafts board and keep the pieces from falling out
The third part will consist of putting latches on the lid and applying a finish. If anyone has some tips on a finish for the veneer I was wondering would teak oil be any good

Great work, you have a good idea how things should look when they are done. The processes taken to get there are direct and precise.
Teak oil, (like Watco or similar?) will work fine. The advantage to an oil finish with veneer, is that you can apply oil, and use 320 grit sandpaper to make a slurry to fill the voids in the joints.
Keep up the fine work, and looking forward to more.

Just a little longer and more indepth for those of us not up to your ability, more of what you are using and how(veneer, glue, spreader). Very good format and very straight forward. Thanks for the video, I wish all the fine wood workers out there did video, there is a reason Norm made so much money.

A few technical critiques (since you asked for them):
If you’re filming a video podcast, be prepared so it is as good as it can be.
Remember, the impression someone has from your first video podcast may well determine if they will come back and visit again when you release another.
As to the content, be sure to provide enough information so that a newbie (like myself) could do it after watching your video. For example, you didn’t say anything about grain direction in the squares (do you alternate them?). And how do you keep the squares from floating around when you clamp them? You also didn’t say what you used for the body (substrate) of the board, or for the base and sides (do you veneer those too?). It would be good to see more of the actual production, besides the application of the little squares. I’m assuming you finished the board since you talk about making the box next. So some more pics or video of what else you did to it would be great.
You’re off to a great start with your podcast, so keep it up! Hope you don’t mind all the comments; I gave so many since you asked for them!
